I don’t know how many times I’ve started blogging on a new site, but it’s always difficult for me to write the first sentence.
But actually, it has been many years since I last wrote a blog, and I did not plan to do it again, but this time I’m especially excited to start this project.
This first post will be just my presentation, who am I and what do I do? My regular job is web development. My hobbies are related to Role Playing Games, both tabletop RPGs and video games. My main passion is Dungeons & Dragons.
I started playing Dungeons & Dragons in 1996, with the revised version of the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition. Since then I have always dedicated part of my time to this hobby. As a Dungeon Master, I always write my own campaign sets, my own adventures, and home rules.
Three years ago I started writing adventures, monsters and custom rules for DM’s Guild and DrivethruRPG. So far all of my titles in DM’s Guild have achieved a Best Seller Metal Icons, plus I have launched a couple kickstarter campaigns for rulebooks and adventures adapting the Pepper&Carrot web comic series created by Daviod Revoy, for the 5th edition Fantasy, which has been my biggest project so far.
My most recent project is Dark Scrolls, I am currently working on finishing the third volume of this old school Zine, which contains home rules, new monsters, spells, and other content for both OSR systems and the 5th edition. The OSR content that I write is more focused on AD&D 2nd Edition, as it is the edition that I played the most when I was young and still play sometimes.
Although this Zine has not been as successful as my previous projects, I am sure it is my best work so far.
I did not want to get too long with this presentation post, but I think I already did. So to finish, I would like to establish what this blog is going to be about.
In this blog I would like to write about adventure development for RPGs, especially for Dungeons & Dragons, and OSR. Maybe also Pathfinder, which is another RPG that I play a lot because it’s my friends’ favorite.
But I would also like to write about how to prepare game sessions, monster creation, and so on. From time to time I also hope to share short adventures and other content.
And finally, I don’t think I can avoid writing about the software part of my work, since I write, format, create monsters, magic items, etc. with a custom software that I developed for this job specifically, since programming is another of my passions.
Oh, and Art! I was forgetting, I like to draw, and I make some of the illustrations for my books, like the covers for the Dark Scrolls zine. And my illustrations will mostly be released under CC by 4.0 License too.
